1. Good Practices on Legal & Policy Interventions Regarding LGBTQIA+ Inclusion

The aim of national reports is to map -starting from desk research- existing good practices and positive legal and/or political interventions in partners’ countries in regard to the support given to the LGBTQIA+ communities, with emphasis to young people and the compliance with the EU standards, in order to identify problematic areas.

Desk research has been conducted by each partner organization for mapping the current situation and existing good practices at local/regional/national level. In particular, partners identified the following common criteria for the identification of good practices:

• Identification of at least 10 good practices per country;
• Emphasis on the mental health of LGBTQIA+ young people and their experiences;
• Provision of a detailed description for each good practice, so as to inspire policy recommendations.

2. Proud Ambassadors Policy Recommendations for LGBTQIA+ Youngsters Support

The “Proud Ambassadors” project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme (Ref. 2024-1-SE02-KA220-YOU-000250648), is a transnational initiative promoting the inclusion and mental well-being of LGBTQIA+ youth across Europe. Led by a partnership of organizations from Sweden, Greece, Belgium, Italy, and Slovenia, the project addresses ongoing challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ young people, such as discrimination, lack of support services, and underreporting of rights violations.

This policy brief presents the results of extensive research, international collaboration, and local focus groups held in all partner countries. It showcases 51 examples of good practices, highlights key policy gaps, and offers 25 targeted recommendations to improve mental health support, education, healthcare access, legal recognition, and workplace inclusion for LGBTQIA+ youth.

The document calls for concrete actions including the creation of LGBTQIA+ mental health hubs, inclusive curricula in schools, mandatory training for educators and healthcare professionals, gender self-determination laws, and stronger anti-discrimination mechanisms. It emphasizes the importance of civil society participation, youth-led advocacy, and institutional accountability to achieve meaningful and lasting change.
